The Best Devon Wedding Venues
A quick guide to 8 awesome wedding venues in Devon
(updated for 2023)
I've lived in Devon all my life, and for the last 8 years been working as a wedding photographer Devon. As such, I've seen a lot of what Devon has to offer for wedding venues. Spoiler, it's brilliant! From renovated barns to beach side venues, it has it all. When initially planning your wedding there's a lot to think about, but typically number one on the list is where to hold your ceremony and reception. This list, in no particular order, is compiled of my own person experiences and photos, as well as what other Devon wedding photographers have passed on. We chat sometimes, you know. Here's a collection of my best Devon wedding venues:
1. Upton Barn

Upton Barn & Walled Garden is a stunning, award winning venue nestled amidst the beautiful Devon countryside near Cullompton, and within easy reach of both Exeter and Taunton. This lovely venue has exploded in popularity after the owners Claire and Rich renovated the barn and held their own wedding there. It's registered for both indoor and outdoor civil ceremonies and partnerships and offers a picturesque and totally private location for your wedding, where you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding unspoilt countryside. The venue is privately owned and available on an exclusive use basis only. I've had the joy of visiting several times for some Upton Barn wedding photography and it's always a treat!
2. Tunnels Beaches

Hand carved in the 1820's, the four tunnels provide a truly unique experience. With it's own private beach, this unique and stunning Devon location is an ideal venue. Beautiful scenery, private secluded beaches with spectacular sunsets and offering a relaxed, informal and friendly atmosphere. Tunnels Beaches is fully licensed for wedding ceremonies within a thatched gazebo overlooking the sea, or inside the stylish venue building, ensuring there are no concerns about the Devon weather! Invite up to 120 day guests and up to 160 evening guests. To see what is has to offer here is a selection of my Tunnels Beaches wedding photography.
3. Bridwell Estate

Hidden from the public for over 240 years, Bridwell opened its doors for guests to enjoy on an exclusive use hire basis for the first time in January 2015. Three years later, Bridwell is successfully carving out an enviable reputation, as one of Devon’s finest venues. Up to 20 guests can be accommodated in the ten spacious bedrooms overlooking the parkland, with a further 16 guests in The Old Stables. There is no question about it, Bridwell is a stunning location for a truly magnificent wedding! Click here if you'd like to see a Bridwell wedding photography.
4. The Oak Barn

The Oak Barn is a stunning wedding venue set in the heart of rural Devon. It features three converted barns and an ancient cob farmhouse. Up to 90 people can be comfortably seated with room and 125 in the evening. There are gardens overlooked by the medieval St Andrews Church surrounded by the beautiful Devon countryside. Both the Oak and Acorn Barns are licensed for civil ceremonies and ceremonies can also now be held outside in the garden. 6. Shilstone House

Shilstone House, located near Modbury in south Devon, is a beautiful venue that has a lot to offer. What stands out for me is the multifunction grounds, all centred around a gorgeous Georgian manor house, that allows a wedding day to flow with zero interruption. Starting with the ceremony barn the guests can move onto the main courtyard for drinks, then onto a beautiful marquee for the reception itself. No turn around times! Amazing! Starting weddings in 2012 it has a brilliant team that run the day smoothly, with the benefit of exclusive hire. Here's a selection of Shilstone House wedding photography to give you an idea of what a wedding can look like.
7. Ever After

Ever After is tucked away on the edge of Dartmoor, not far from the Cornwall border. Get married at Ever After, also known as Lower Grenofen, and have all the celebrations in the same place. Guests can sit outside to witness your wedding ceremony. The wedding barn is strung with fairy lights, borrow the steel lanterns or oak logs for the aisle or use one of our rustic arches, whatever suits your wedding theme. You can get your florist to bring in floral arches, a flower curtain, foliage hoops or keep it pared back and simple with the paved floor, stone walls and oak beams. Licensed to hold weddings in the wedding barn with up to 120 of your favourite people. Click here to see some full Ever After wedding photography gallery.
8. Huntsham Court

Huntsham Court is a stunning manor house secluded in the middle of Devon. The word that comes to mind is luxury. With exclusive hire, guests can enjoy a three day weekend here. I documented a wonderful autumnal wedding and you can click to see Charlotte & James' Huntsham Court wedding photography, and it was a joy of a wedding venue with a great team to work with. With the capacity to host 130 guests there's a lot on offer, with stunning rooms to hold the different elements of the wedding day, not forgetting the beautiful surroundings.
