I've lived in Devon all my life, and for the last 9 years I've been working as a wedding photographer Devon. As such, I've seen a lot of what Devon has to offer for wedding venues. Spoiler, it's brilliant!

The Best Outside Wedding Venues in Devon

1. Upton Barn

Upton Barn & Walled Garden is a stunning, award winning venue nestled amidst the beautiful Devon countryside near Cullompton, and within easy reach of both Exeter and Taunton. This lovely venue has exploded in popularity after the owners Claire and Rich renovated the barn and held their own wedding there. It's registered for both indoor and outdoor civil ceremonies and partnerships and offers a picturesque and totally private location for your wedding, where you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding unspoilt countryside. The venue is privately owned and available on an exclusive use basis only. I've had the joy of visiting several times for some Upton Barn wedding photography and it's always a treat!

2. Cadhay House - Cadhay Wedding Gallery

Cadhay is a stunning Tudor manor house, near Ottery St Mary, with amazing gardens for guests to enjoy. I had the pleasure of photographing the first outside ceremony, and couples can hire Cadhay for a long weekend.

3. Mount Folly Farm - Mount Folly Farm Wedding Gallery

Located in Bigbury on Sea along the South Hams coastal path, Mount Folly Farm is part campsite, part barn and part wedding venue. With a marquee overlooking the beach, it's a stunning outdoor ceremony location.

4. Tracey Estate - Tracey Estate Wedding Gallery

Found near Honiton in East Devon, a well located venue for travelling guests, is Tracey Estate. It includes a truly unique ceremony location surrounded by trees and gardens.

5. Yurt Camp - Yurt Camp Wedding Gallery

Secluded in the heart of Devon you'll find Yurtcamp, a gem of a wedding venue on the edge of Dartmoor. For the adventurous couples out there who love the outdoors.

The Best Rustic Wedding Venues in Devon

1. The Oak Barn

The Oak Barn is a stunning wedding venue set in the heart of rural Devon. It features three converted barns and an ancient cob farmhouse. Up to 90 people can be comfortably seated with room and 125 in the evening.  There are gardens overlooked by the medieval St Andrews Church surrounded by the beautiful Devon countryside. Both the Oak and Acorn Barns are licensed for civil ceremonies and ceremonies can also now be held outside in the garden. The Oak Barn is a beautiful and flexible venue for couples who want an individual and relaxed wedding; it has eleven bedrooms and is offered on an exclusive venue only basis. 2. Barn at Barrons Hill - Barrons Hill Wedding Gallery

Tucked away in South Devon, near Kingsbridge, is Barrons Hill Farm. A rustic wedding venue ideal for couples who want to apply their own style to the day.

3. Bickham Barn - Bickham Barn Wedding Gallery

Rustic does not do Bickham Barn justice, a barn that's barely been touched. On the outskirts of Exeter Bickham Barn is a true rustic venue with lovely grounds to explore.

4. Great Barn - Great Barn Wedding Gallery

Located in Higher Ashton you'll find The Great Barn, Devon. A superb rustic chic wedding venue that provides onsite accommodation for weddings, and it's available for 3 day bookings so the entire wedding party get to enjoy a long weekend in Devon.

The Best Devon Wedding Venues By The Sea

1. Tunnels Beaches

Hand carved in the 1820's, the four tunnels provide a truly unique experience. With it's own private beach, this unique and stunning Devon location is an ideal venue. Beautiful scenery, private secluded beaches with spectacular sunsets and offering a relaxed, informal and friendly atmosphere. Tunnels Beaches is fully licensed for wedding ceremonies within a thatched gazebo overlooking the sea, or inside the stylish venue building, ensuring there are no concerns about the Devon weather! 2. Cliff House - Cliff House Wedding Gallery

Cliff House is an historic property on the Salcombe waterfront. With views overlooking the estuary, guests can enjoy the ceremony, drinks and dancing all in one beautiful location

3. Saunton Sands Hotel - Saunton Sands Wedding Gallery

A stunning art deco hotel along the North Devon coastline, Saunton Sands has to offer the best beach for couples to celebrate their wedding day.

4. Custom House - Custom House Wedding Gallery

Technically not quite by the sea, but it's close as you can get! Custom House has an amazing event space for the ceremony, which then turns into the reception area, big windows with lots of space.

A relative newcomer to the Devon wedding market, Watermouth Cove is a stunning seaside wedding venue that your guests will never forget.

Best Indoor Wedding Venues in Devon

1. Huntsham Court

Huntsham Court is a stunning manor house secluded in the middle of Devon. The word that comes to mind is luxury. With exclusive hire, guests can enjoy a three day weekend here. With the capacity to host 130 guests there's a lot on offer, with stunning rooms to hold the different elements of the wedding day, not forgetting the beautiful surroundings.

2. Bridwell Estate

Hidden from the public for over 240 years, Bridwell opened its doors for guests to enjoy on an exclusive use hire basis for the first time in January 2015. Three years later, Bridwell is successfully carving out an enviable reputation, as one of Devon’s finest venues. Up to 20 guests can be accommodated in the ten spacious bedrooms overlooking the parkland, with a further 16 guests in The Old Stables. 3. Beaconside House - Beaconside House Wedding Gallery

Beaconside House is a gorgeous exclusive hire wedding venue perched upon the hillside on the outskirts of Bideford, Devon. With onsite accommodation, and the option for outside and inside ceremonies, it's a superb choice for couples looking for a venue to celebrate all weekend long,

4. Shilstone House

Shilstone House, located near Modbury in south Devon, is a beautiful venue that has a lot to offer. What stands out for me is the multifunction grounds, all centred around a gorgeous Georgian manor house, that allows a wedding day to flow with zero interruption. Starting with the ceremony barn the guests can move onto the main courtyard for drinks, then onto a beautiful marquee for the reception itself. No turn around times! Amazing! 5. Ever After

Ever After is tucked away on the edge of Dartmoor, not far from the Cornwall border. Get married at Ever After, also known as Lower Grenofen, and have all the celebrations in the same place. Guests can sit outside to witness your wedding ceremony. The wedding barn is strung with fairy lights, borrow the steel lanterns or oak logs for the aisle or use one of our rustic arches, whatever suits your wedding theme. You can get your florist to bring in floral arches, a flower curtain, foliage hoops or keep it pared back and simple with the paved floor, stone walls and oak beams. 1. Deer Park Country Hotel

Deer Park Country Hotel is an 18th Century Georgian House near Exeter, licensed for civil ceremonies and is perfect for exclusive use weddings in Devon, accommodating up to 60 wedding guests in the main house for intimate celebrations and up to 210 wedding guests in the orangery. Specialising in fun and original weddings with over 80 acres of spiffing grounds, featuring wild flower meadows, woodland walks, manicured lawns and riverside trails. 2. Pynes House - Pynes House Wedding Gallery

Pynes House is a romantic luxury wedding venue in Devon. Based on the outskirts of Exeter, nestled within the Exe Valley, you'll find a stunning country house with some spectacular interiors.

3. Rockbeare Manor

The manor of Rockbeare, meaning 'Rook Wood', is Grade I Listed and a fine example of a Regency country home which looks as though it has come straight out of a Jane Austen novel.
