Pynes House Wedding Photography
M & T
(Updated 2023)
This was my second time as a wedding photographer at Pynes House, and being based in Exeter myself it's still hard to believe this idilic venue is so close to the city and surrounded by nothing but scenic landscape. My first visit to Pynes House was back in 2015, with the ceremony held at a nearby church, so I've been excited to share this summer wedding with the ceremony taking place outside in the August sunshine.
The day started with bridal prep in the Northcote room. With some last minute adjustments to speeches the morning went by quickly, as Jo (wedding co-ordinator) and the team were getting the seating prepared for the ceremony. The wedding ceremony itself was stunning, not only set in a beautiful location of the courtyard, but also because it was a hand-fasting ceremony conducted by two friends. Every so often this happens, and it's a joy to photograph. The bride and groom themselves were already legally married and this allows more freedom in how the wedding celebration can be structured.

With some wonderful personal vows, and with family standing nearby, each taking part by tying a knot around their hands, it was a joyful ceremony. With the sun shining it was time for canapés and everyone was chatting away swapping stories of their travels, as people travelled far and wide to see this wonderful wedding.
Now a Pynes House wedding needs an impressive cake, and what a wedding cake it was, probably the biggest talking point among the guests. Only helped by the impressive cake cutting itself! Quite Brazen, a fantastic band, smashed their set and got the dance floor going, my personal highlight being some high kicks to 500 Miles.

FAQ
How many photos do you deliver?
How much is a wedding photographer at Pynes House?
Similar to pricing, you'll find photographers deliver wedding galleries with varying amounts of photos. I'm a big fan of not having set hours, I love to photograph from morning to night. As a result I leave with lots of photos to edit! A typical wedding with 80-100 guests ends up proving 700-900 images in the final gallery. I have no limit on what's delivered and there's no hidden costs involved.
You can see my wedding pricing here. Upon looking into photographers you'll likely find a variety of prices based on a few factors, the two main being experience of the photographer and what their 'package' includes. I like to keep things super simple and offer one price that provides unlimited coverage. Being based in Exeter myself there are zero travel costs.
What camera equipment do you use?
How long do you stay for?
It's a popular question, and I think can be overlooked sometimes. Not that it matters if it's Nikon vs Fuji vs Sony etc... It matters because it affects the experience on the day for everyone enjoying the wedding. I use two Sony a9 cameras with a selection of prime lenses. These are silent cameras, you won't hear a single camera click all day.
A long time ago I got rid of the idea of having set hours. It complicates the pricing involved and it's rare a wedding runs exactly to schedule. Simplicity is key for me, in how I shoot and how I structure my work. I provide unlimited coverage, meaning I can start with bridal prep and stay way past the first dance.
