It was the perfect winter’s day for some Rockbeare Manor wedding photography. Sophie & Carl planned a November wedding that happened to fall the day after the first (and maybe only) snow fall in Devon of 2024. With snow still fresh on the ground as guests arrived, with crisp blue skies, we were set for a beautiful wedding day at Rockbeare Manor.
I started my morning with Sophie and her bridesmaids getting ready, which included one of my favourite photos of the year, the dress reveal to her sister in the upstairs suite.

The ceremony room looked amazing with the low winter light flooding in as Sophie and Carl exchanged vows. Guests had the opportunity to mingle outside and enjoy canapés in the balmy two degrees temperature, which also provided the perfect lighting conditions for some family portraits.
With the sun still shinning we took the opportunity to pop outside for some portraits before we returned for the wedding breakfast. It was a fun set of speeches which was followed by some brilliant magic that had guests exclaiming all evening. Here’s a selection of their Rockbeare Manor wedding photography…
Tips For A Rockbeare Manor Wedding
Firstly, rest assured that you’re in safe hands. Aimée, Steph and the team do a fantastic job of running the day smoothly and provide great support in the build up and throughout the wedding day itself. Bridal prep would likely begin within the Studio, but if you’re looking for some great getting ready photos, with a fun dress reveal like the one featured here maybe, then save this for the grand upstair suites. Depending upon your ceremony time and season consider the sun’s direction into the ceremony room. For this winter wedding it filled the room with amazing light, after some tweaks to the shutters to provide guests with the best view. Rockbeare Manor is a superb choice if family portraits and couple portraits are important to you. Without travelling very far you have an abundance of great outdoor choice. So no matter the weather you can feel safe that your photographer is spoilt for choice!
