2019 / Some Of My Favourites

If you booked me to photograph your wedding day this past year, thank you. Likewise to everyone who's included me in your wedding plans for 2020, thank you. It's often the trickiest bit to articulate in these end of year review posts, and rather than stumble my way into it after several re-writes, I thought I'd come straight out the gate with it. This is a job that keeps on giving. It's my profession, I love it, and it continues to challenge me and push me to do better.

2019 Wedding Photography Collection

This last year has simply been fantastic, meeting and working with some brilliant people. More so than ever I've been recommended to couples by people who've seen me in action, and it's been wonderful to see them again and catch up. 2019 can be summed up as being relatively local, but completely fresh. I've made my first appearance at so many South West venues this year, as well as return to some absolute favourites. I've been fortunate to capture some crazy wedding parties and some stunning sunsets, but best of all just a lovely bunch of people enjoying every moment of their wedding day.

These posts are a chance to reflect. Take a moment after a hectic summer and have a holistic view of the year gone by. It's a handy post for couples to look through and get a feel for how I photograph weddings, but also for me to take stock and make plans for the upcoming year. 2020 is looking fantastic, with new adventures to be had. If you're seeing this post whilst planning your wedding, get in touch, and say hello.

I also wanted to try something different this year, and ask some of the couples I've had the good fortune to photograph what their favourite wedding photo was, and why. I've included their choice in the mix below. It's important to me to be creative and try new things in my wedding photography, but to also recognise what's important to the people who put their trust in me to photograph their day, and I really enjoyed reading their responses.

So, after running through the catalog of weddings from 2019, these are some of my favourites. A random selection of images from some of the weddings I've photographed that simply make me smile, and hopefully you too...

"We love this picture because it encompasses the whole day. We’d spent so long learning the dance and doing it on the day was the culmination of all our prep coming together. We had a great time - we didn’t take it too seriously so it was super fun, and we were surrounded by all our family and friends. It also set the tone for the non-stop dancing that ensued, from the dance off to everyone dancing until the last of us were kicked out at 2am. We had such a fun time together and this picture captures us in our own little moment, oblivious of anyone else."

"There are so many images from our gallery which are just fabulous of us, our family and friends where we all look so special and regal. However, this one is our favourite because we can see most of our guests - some are either hidden or were having a quiet time in the Orangery! Everyone is smiling in a natural way and it just sums up the laughs and fun parts of the day. It makes us happy to see everyone so happy because we wanted the day to be about our guests who travelled far and wide and not just about us. The colours are really vibrant and the image of the Orangery reminds us of where we were. It has a slightly tropical feel too which we love! Another reason why this picture is special is that It is also very rare to be able to have a wonderful image of so many loved ones all in one place and I know this will be one that we will look back on with fond memories for many years to come."

"Perfect end to the perfect day."
