Intimate Wedding at Upton Barn

Oh me oh my. This wedding is THE example of what couples and the wedding industry have experienced these last 18 months. Spoiler, it has a very happy ending! It all started the perfect way, Vicki saw me in action at another wedding (hey there Aimee & Jack), and got in touch for her big day. The best way for a wedding photographer to start. Upton Barn was their wedding venue of choice, another great win. Then 2020 happened.
On a personal note I've experienced the full spectrum of how couples and venues have handled pandemic life. Vicki and Marc are two wonderful souls who despite the battle to get their wedding day arranged handled the whole thing like true professionals and I'm forever grateful. One year and four wedding dates later we made it! It was a roller coaster of a ride and makes this wedding day extra special. To see this wedding go through every alteration, to work within guidelines at the time, to end up being 30 of their nearest and dearest enjoying a perfect sunny spring day at Upton Barn was just magic.
Intimate Barn Wedding
The day started with some preparations. Laughing and joking with family and friends before making our way to Upton Barn. It was a peach of a day, which meant it was the first outdoor ceremony at Upton Barn for a long time. As the day unfolded it felt more and more like 2019 again. Having thirty people or one hundred there made no difference, it had all the right feels.
We dabbled with smoke bombs and enjoyed a sunny afternoon in the colourful gardens. At the time dancing was limited inside, so Vicki and Marc opted for an outside first dance, which gave an opportunity to get some wedding photos I wouldn't have got otherwise and are some of my favourites from the day. This job has always been special, this last year has proven that even more so. Whenever I do hang up the cameras for good, this wedding will stay with me.
