Bengali Wedding at Upton Barn
Musarrat & Merlin

There's a relaxed wedding, and then there's a R E L A X E D wedding, and this one was definitely the latter 🙂 Musarrat and Merlin travelled down from London to hold their special wedding day at Upton Barn & Walled Garden here in Devon. We had a Skype call a few months previous and I was immediately excited to hear what they had planned, which in part included a Bengali style ceremony, something I've not captured before
The day was full of colour, from outfits to confetti to garlands, all illuminated by the bright summer sun. The ceremony itself was lovely, filled with unique elements, including some of the guests becoming part of the service by placing a ribbon around Musarrat and Merlin's hands. Each one represents something different, and once complete they tie a knot around their hands and complete the blessing, literally tying the knot! The words used for this ceremony really caught my attention, so much so that I asked for the extract from the Native American blessing used to conclude the service...
"May the sun bring you new energies by day. May the moon softly restore you by night. May the rain wash away your worries, and the breeze blow new strength into your being, and then, all the days of your life. May you walk gently through the world and know its beauty. Now you will feel no rain, for each of you will be shelter for the other. Now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth to the other. Now there is no more loneliness, for each of you will be companion to the other. Now you are two persons, but there is only one life before you."
This is a small selection from their day, you can see all my Upton Barn wedding photography here.
“I just wanted to thank you so so much for the incredible pictures. I just had a chance to see them and I absolutely love them!…Thank you so so much again, you are amazing!”
