The Oak Barn Wedding Photography
Katherine & Calum

Early winter I found myself near Hittisleigh for some The Oak Barn wedding photography in Devon, for the amazing wedding of Katherine and Calum. Two wonderful people blessed with dry weather and awesome winter light! Below is the story of their wedding day...
The Morning & Ceremony
Leaving Exeter I headed up the A30 to The Oak Barn to capture the preparations with Katherine and her bridesmaids, getting ready in one of the three converted barns. Hair and makeup was in full swing, and with all of us in the one room most of the images were at taken on a wide angle lens. Like always I was looking only for natural shots, who needs posing when there are so many real moments to document! It wasn't long until we were all heading East again for the ceremony, held at St Michael and All Angels Church in Pinhoe, Exeter.
Upon arrival the low winter light helped me capture some nice moments of Katherine and her dad making their way to the church. It was a lovely ceremony, and I find there's always at least one point when everyone laughs, this time it was Bernard, the vicar, getting Katherine's birthday wrong, well corrected by Calum!
Wedding Photograper at The Oak Barn
We all headed back to The Oak Barn, and after settling back in we took a stroll around the barns and gardens for some portraits. Katharine (not the bride!) and her husband have done a wonderful job of restoring the barns, and have been holding weddings for six years now. This was my second time as a wedding photographer Devon at The Oak Barn and since then they've restored a new barn, with corrugated iron as a feature, making for a nice photo backdrop. We also headed off to the surrounding fields to take advantage of the lovely evening light.
Dinner (provided by Oak Tree Occasions) and speeches were held in the main barn. The highlight for me was Calum taking pride, even celebrating, in bringing a tear to Katherine's eye! A job well done. The evening included some sparklers, winter fires and fantastic music by Quite Brazen. It was a lovely first dance quickly followed by some fun and craziness, a great way to end a fantastic wedding day.
"Thank you Lee for our gorgeous wedding photos! We genuinely can't stop looking at them... You captured the day brilliantly (we love some of the shots of the more 'merry' guests) and we are so so SO delighted. Thank you again!"

The Oak Barn Wedding Venue
In the middle of Devon, just on the edge of Dartmoor, surrounded by rolling countryside you'll find The Oak Barn. It's a fantastic wedding venue in which I had the pleasure of photographing Katherine and Calum's wedding day! From bridal prep to the evening's festivities it was non-stop fun and laughter, the day just flew by. The venue is a great choice for couples who are seeking a blank canvas to style their day. It seems every year the venue improves with new additions and updates.
