What a fantastic wedding day! A touching ceremony followed by the funniest best men (there were two of them!) speech I’ve ever heard. Let’s start at the beginning…
I met the lovely Laura & Josh a few months previous, through a friend whose wedding I happen to be shooting this year. Thanks again, Emily!
We talked about their plans, ideas and our mutual love for the TV show ‘The Office’ (American version). Fast forward to Reed Hall in October, with some autumn colours starting to appear.
The ceremony was amazing, both Laura and Josh had written their own personal vows, Laura adding “you are the Jim to my Pam”, a reference to the TV show, and if you’re a fan you know what that means!!
After some group shots and a stroll around the gardens it was time for the wedding breakfast. Now, the problem with videos and photos is that they don’t disappear all that easy. So because of their background in media, there was a wealth of material to be broadcast in the speeches, mostly at Josh’s expense.
Being a wedding photographer, and having an abundance of gear to take photos, I like to think I’m pretty good at documenting my two girls growing up. But this wedding day was a big reminder to keep at it. A mention has to go to Josh’s dad who put a lot of effort into piecing together a slideshow of Josh growing up, probably recorded on all sorts of formats and needing lots of transferring/editing etc…
There were tears, laughter, props and Dr Seuss references but most importantly it was clear how Laura & Josh came to be and how much it means to everyone.
The night included some beer pong and a tower of doughnuts, plus some great dance moves. And we popped out for one last portrait before I headed home. Congratulations Laura & Josh, simply a fantastic wedding day for two fantastic people.
“I just wanted to send a quick email to thank you so so much for our truly amazing photos, it was such a lovely thing to come home to from our honeymoon, the attention to detail with the USB was so lush, as was your letter to us…You captured our day so perfectly, we really can’t thank you enough!”
