Some Of My Favourite Unscripted Wedding Moments
25 unplanned Wedding Photos That I Love

Some of my favourite wedding photographs, the ones I find myself coming back to again and again, aren’t the ones you’d ever expect. They’re not the first kiss, the confetti throw or the portrait at sunset. They’re the moments in-between. The quick glances, big hugs, the unplanned comedy or the emotion no one choreographed. They’re the heartbeat of a wedding day and the reason I carry a camera for a living.
Over the years I’ve photographed hundreds of weddings and despite the familiar rhythm a wedding day follows, no two are ever the same. People are infinitely surprising. Someone’s always laughing a second too early, tripping over a chair leg, sneaking food off a plate, wiping a tear when they thought no one was looking, or having a moment of beautiful stillness in the middle of the chaos. These unscripted micro-scenes are the soul of wedding storytelling and often the most memorable images for couples.
This collection is a celebration of that unpredictability. Twenty five frames pulled from different weddings, each a little window into the real stuff. It’s Calum’s big hug for his dad after the speech, it’s Harriet nearly losing her vail on the cliffs of Cornwall or Steph’s entrance to see Henry. All of it brilliant. If you want a look into what gear I use, how I edit and prepare for these moments take a look at my behind the scenes posts.
These are the moments that teach me the most as a photographer. They reinforce why I shoot documentary style, why I use prime lenses to stay close to the action and why I trust instinct over orchestration. Unscripted moments are where personality lives, they’re the photos couples didn’t expect but often love the most. Every wedding is a collection of tiny, fleeting stories. These are a few of my favourites, captured in the split seconds where real life breaks through the schedule. And honestly? That’s where the magic always is.
