Back in the glorious summer I drove north to photograph the lovely Jessica and David's wedding. It was my first visit to The Great Barn, in Aynho, as a wedding photographer and I was super excited. I had a lot of time to get excited because, like many, Jessica & David made the tough choice to postpone their big day from 2021. But oh my, it was worth the wait.
After some bridal preparations at Jess' family home it was off to The Great Barn for the final touches, in the dressing room, before joining David for the ceremony itself. The barn itself is a beautiful setting for a wedding ceremony, and it was clear to see how much this day meant to everyone in attendance.
Wedding at The Great Barn
It was a lovely summer's day, so everyone enjoyed the courtyard for drinks, canapés and lawn games. My personal favourite being the giant Jenga, with a few bruised toes, mine included. The speeches were a real highlight and a lot of fun to document. We took a moment to enjoy the farm and grounds in the evening for some portraits, taking note that maybe at sunset the nearby field might make a great second outing. Jessica & David, being the stars that they are, took full advantage and got some golden light later in the evening.
With a friend running the DJ set, it was s super fun dance floor, including a dance circle around a pineapple. It was a great way to end a fantastic wedding day, and absolutely worth the extra year to get there!
The Great Barn, Aynho, Wedding Venue
The Great Barn Aynho is a superb wedding venue, I'm so pleased I got to visit as a wedding photographer. The 18th century barn is split into two, the Croughton Room and The Aynho Room. The Croughton Room, for the ceremony can hold 175 people, and when later converted for dining can accommodate 144 people. Located in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside, the farm grounds make a great location for wedding portraits. Ideal for couples planning a wedding who are looking for a large space but also feeling private and secluded.
