Country Ways Wedding Photography

Lottie & Phil

Wedding photography at Country Ways, Devon

Located in North Devon, near Umberleigh, you will find Country Ways Cottages, a tucked away row of cottages, a barn and marquee to celebrate a wedding day. Country Ways was the wedding venue of choice for Lottie and Phil, it was my first time as a wedding photographer at Country Ways and what a day it was! As a wedding photographer it’s a joy to shoot a day where the couple have put their own personality into their day, and Country Ways was a blank canvas for Lottie and Phil to do just that.

Wedding Day

I started with Lottie getting ready in one of the cottages, where I discovered a friend had made the wedding dress! I think it makes a wedding day that bit more special when fiends and family contribute to the day in some way, I do love a homemade wedding cake! I quickly popped across the path to visit Phil and his groomsmen. After they sampled their whiskey we found out we attended the same university just one year apart and even shared some modules. Small world.

The ceremony was held in the decorated barn and was filled with smiles and laughter. That was the whole day in fact, a super chilled day with everyone smiling and laughing. A wedding photography first for me was capturing an impromptu game of cricket. It was close to the first dance, borderline night time, so it was dark and the image of Lottie striking the ball so perfectly ends up a little blurry, but is still one of my favourites from the day!

A highlight for me was the prank on Phil at the first dance. During the speeches he was mocked for his music choices in his youth, including the classic Backstreet Boys. Just for a moment, a small but hilarious moment, this was the beginning of their music choice. Everyone was in stitches! It was a wonderful wedding day and so much fun to shoot! Here’s some of my favourites…

“Lee was the photographer for our wedding and both he and the photos that we have from the day are nothing short of excellent. From the first contact to after the day itself Lee was an absolute pleasure to deal with – answering all my questions so patiently and quickly!  Our photo selection from the day is everything that we could have hoped for, and so much more. He captured the day perfectly, and some of the individual shots that we have are just fantastic. The funny thing is that I can’t even remember seeing him taking the shots, he made himself so unobtrusive to the day that I can’t quite believe some of the photos that we got! We’ve shared the link with our families who have all said to us that they are some of the best photos that they have ever seen from a wedding, and couldn’t agree more. Already I keep coming back to them, and I will continue to do so for years to come – I’m sure of it.”
