Small Wedding Venues in Devon
Top 5 Venues in Devon for a Small Wedding
There are many reasons why someone might want a small intimate wedding, and Devon has plenty to choose from! Here are my top 5 venues in Devon for smaller weddings. Wether your eloping or inviting some friends and family along these venues offer a wide choice to fit your wedding plans.
1. Tree Top Escape
Tree Top Escape, near Umberleigh, is a truly unique venue for a small wedding. Both bridal suite and ceremony room (named The Nest) are situated high in the trees providing beautiful view to wake up to and for the ceremony itself. You can invite 14 people to attend the ceremony itself, and celebrate the day in the secluded countryside.
2. Lower Barns
OK, hands up, Lower Barns isn’t in Devon, it’s in Cornwall not far from St Austell. But I couldn’t ignore this wonderful choice for a small wedding venue. It’s full of colour and character and has the most wonderful hosts to help organise your wedding day. With the coast not far it also makes a great option for couples who want to explore, maybe even for some wedding portraits.
3. Millbrook Cottages
Right, back in Devon we find ourselves looking at Millbrook Cottages. This is a great choice for intimate weddings who want to include a getaway. Getting married and having a holiday in Devon in one of the beautiful cottages on the estate. Surrounded by woodland and greenery you’re spoilt for views.
4. Higher Eggbeer
Something a little different for option number 4, Higher Eggbeer is the ideal wedding venue choice for those wanting a rustic styling to their wedding day. This is a blank canvas to build a bespoke wedding day, and is able to hold a larger number of people if you prefer. With accommodation and a swimming pool available it has plenty to offer.
5. Ash Rescue Centre
For couples who want to really embrace the outdoor Ash Rescue Centre is a fantastic choice. ARC is a charity to look after horses but also has award winning gardens to hold a wedding ceremony. Far from a ‘wedding factory’ this is a wonderful location for a unique wedding day.
Bonus option 6
The marriage laws in England are set to change over the next 12 months or so. Breaking free from the older laws, weddings will now have more flexibility in how they’re conducted. For couples who want to get married away from an official venue, say at the beach or private land, they have to complete the legal part separately. Going forward couples will now be able to have a legal ceremony at a location of their choice, within reason! So if you’re planning a wedding in 2021 or further ahead you may have that option available for your wedding day.
Whilst planning your intimate wedding you may also want a photographer experienced photographing small weddings. If so, please do get in touch. All the images shown here were taken by me, I’ve worked at each of these venues and create wonderful wedding galleries for these intimate weddings.
