        Claire & Paul

There are many variables that influence the success of a wedding day for a photographer, or really anyone working on the wedding day. The most important component for me is the couple and how they approach the day. But other factors like how engaged the guests are, the venue (Lusty Glaze, near Newquay) and of course the weather, all make a big difference. Well in this instance I struck gold, all the ducks were in a row (and any other cliché phrase you could insert here) because it was the prefect wedding day at the perfect venue with perfect weather.

Claire and Paul booked me months ago, however they live in Sheffield so it was only a few weeks before the wedding day that I got to meet them in person to discuss their plans. This is when the excitement starts to build, as I already know Lusty Glaze has loads of potential, but in addition to that they’ve put loads of effort into planning the day. Including all their guests traveling across half the country (some more than that) to attend their wedding day, popular couple I guess 🙂

        Lusty Glaze Wedding

If you haven’t seen Lusty Glaze Beach before then it is definitely worth looking into as a wedding venue. A secluded beach near Newquay with a venue right on top of the sand in which to hold the ceremony and celebrate the wedding. The best thing for me about such a venue is the vibe it generates. Encouraging people to relax and enjoy the day, especially when the sun is shining.

So after everyone made their way down the cliff steps it was time for the ceremony. Claire was a little bit late (just a little bit) and this may cause concern for some grooms, but not Paul. Instead he takes photos of the guests looking at their watches as evidence to keep when ever he needs to prove a point in the future.

With the ceremony complete it was time to ease into an all day celebration. After some group photos on the beach it was time for the speeches. This was one of the highlights of day, with Paul and Claire’s Dad providing some lovely remarks, plus the best man providing a chance for the guests to choose which speech he gave, bronze, silver or gold, based on how humiliating it is for Paul. After selecting gold they were subjected to 20+ minutes (I know because there was a bet for how long it would last) of laughter.

Going on into the evening the sun starts to set directly into the cove, providing some fantastic soft light to shoot in, plus a chance to get some sunset shots. With a great first dance and a lethal cutting of the cake done it was time to call it a day. A fantastic wedding that was a privilege to capture.
