DIY Marquee Wedding Photography

Sophie & Dale

The first post of 2020, and it's starting off with a corker! This is the amazing wedding of Sophie and Dale, a wedding literally built from scratch. Held at Sophie's family home, the 'project' started close to a year previous with the re-building of the garden to house the marquee and ceremony space under the gorgeous trees.

Sophie and Dale saw me in action during Aimee and Jack's wedding in France, and lucky for me they saw those images and wanted to book me for their big day. It's the best possible way to photograph a wedding, already knowing the couple, with people who are crafting the entire day.

My day started with Dale and his groomsmen at the house, seeing this amazing space they had created was a fantastic start to the morning. After a quick stop over with Sophie at a nearby home with her final preparations people were starting to arrive for the ceremony. It was wonderful to see some familiar faces, in such a special location for a wedding ceremony. The ceremony itself was held by a family friend, and everyone looked on with joy and smiles, and maybe a tear or two.

Although the weather flirted with some rain now and again, everyone enjoyed some time in the garden and some lovely speeches under the cover of the beautiful marquee. I already knew that the night would end with a bang, and it did not disappoint! Along with some great music there were some sing offs and dance offs, with a grand finale of Oasis and a group circle!

It was a fantastic wedding day, a joy to photograph. It's such an honour to do this job and witness these life events, especially after so much effort was put into creating this day...
