        [BTS] No.16 France

Where do I start with this post? We had a plan, we thought it was a good one. Visit the South of France, get a car and drive around the countryside visiting towns, big and small, and spend our evenings relaxing next to some vineyards. What it eventually turned into was a holiday of attrition. Eve, our eldest, got ill and spent the first couple days out of action and the next few slowly recovering. Then it was my turn. So the long city walks and indulging in ice creams never really happened. But when fit, or somewhere near it, we squeezed every last ounce out of this holiday.

We still chewed up 600+ miles on the road and visited some amazing places. If you’re ever in the area make sure you check out Carcasone and St Emilion, two wonderful relics from the past. We loved touring around Bordeaux which seemed more beautiful upon every turn. It seems April is hit and miss with weather in the region, but we were lucky that when fit the sun was out and provided some lovely sunrises and sunsets. The churches, and the details in their architecture and stained glass windows were a real treat. A highlight was visiting an art gallery and choosing some souvenirs for the girls. The artist made them personalised pictures right in front of them, which they loved. Definitely recommend a visit for anyone seeking a fun adventure on the continent, the exploration is half the fun. Here’s some of my favourites from the trip…
