Beach Wedding Venues in Devon
5 Beautiful Wedding Venues on Devon Beach
Ah, Devon! I love this place so much. If you’re reading this post you’re likely a fan too because you’re looking into having your wedding on a Devon beach. I live in Devon and have been a wedding photographer in Devon for six years, and this is my list of five wonderful beach wedding venues in Devon.
Beach weddings are an absolute blast, they have great vibe and guests smile and laugh throughout. Most wedding venues near Devon beaches are located on the north coast, with it’s more dramatic coastline. This top five list does include one on the south coast and one big outlier!
Tunnels Beaches, near Ilfracombe
You’ll be hard pressed to find any information on Devon beach venues and not find Tunnels Beaches. There’s a good reason for that, because it’s a stunning venue! Situated in the rugged ilfracombe cliff edge is a modern building next to a stunning beach. The beach itself is public, where the the venue is private. The beach also becomes very quiet in the evening, making it perfect for those sunset portraits.
Saunton Sands Hotel
This lovely wedding at Saunton Sands allowed me to create one of my favourite ever wedding photos. Saunton Sands Hotel sits in the hillside with a beautiful view of the beach, with a short walk down to the beach itself if you fancy getting your feet wet. The hotel recently had a remodel and has a wonderful art deco design throughout. With the added benefit that wedding guests can stay in the hotel a true wedding weekend can be had!
Woolacombe Bay Hotel
Woolacombe Beach is stunning, it goes on for miles! That means that even on a busy weekend space can be found. The hotel is at the end of the small town and a short walk along their private path takes your right to the beach. The hotel has a great private space right out front for wedding guests to enjoy their canapés and drinks.
The one South Devon option on this list for a beach wedding is Burgh Island. Not far from Bigbury Burgh Island is a unique spot which is tide dependant. At high tide the island is exactly that, an island! If you look closely you can spot the beach tractor that can take guests to and form the island through the tide. It’s a lovely hotel with wonderful decor.
Lusty Glaze Beach
OK, this is the outlier. Lusty Glaze is in Newquay on the edge of Cornwall. I know, I know! But if you’re travelling to Devon it’s not that much further, I promise. It’s on this list because it’s a stunning venue which literally has the venue on the beach, once the ceremony is complete guests can spend the rest of the day with sand between their toes! Similar to Tunnels Beaches it is found in the cliff edge with a public beach that goes quiet in the evening. I love it here!
