What a wedding this was! I've been extremely lucky this year to witness and capture some great weddings, and this one was rather special.
It was held at Muddifords Court Country House in Devon and I was there to shoot from preparations through to the first dance. Muddifords, when hosting weddings, provides a great space for the bride and groom to apply their own style, and Joanne and Matt did exactly that.
I was introduced to them via a mutual friend, and from my point of view it's always nice to have some familiar faces on the wedding day. If anything, it provides an opportunity to get some better photos as you're not a stranger to everyone and it's easier to build some rapport with the other guests.
I really enjoyed photographing the preparations. Joanne was in the bridal suite, which had this 'classic' look about it with its four poster bed and one big window as a light source. It was here that I quickly realised Joanne was providing these fantastic natural poses, with no interference from me, and I knew it would be a fun day to shoot.
The Cider Barn, where they hold the ceremony, was packed with friends and family. It's always great when the registrars involved show their personality during the service, putting people at ease and allowing everyone an opportunity to get their photos etc... One of my favourite images was taken before Joanne made her entrance, one of Matt and his best man Dan, a real bromance ;-)
The 'pake' (we couldn't decide if it was a large pond or a small lake), provided a great backdrop for the group and couple photos. Everyone then returned to the main courtyard for some acoustic guitar and photo booth fun, and maybe a drink or two as well.
After the first dance, where Matt showed off his singing skills, it was time for me to to call it a day, but I'm sure the fun carried on for quite a while longer ;-)
A great day filled with great people. Congratulations Joanne and Matt!
