Every wedding is different. Some are all day events with hundreds of people in attendance, some are smaller family events, and Jo and Cedric's was the latter. A lovely couple who live and work in London but held their ceremony at St Luke's Church in Countess Wear in Exeter. To match the variety of weddings out there, the approach of the photographer will change as well. I was asked to shoot for two hours, some preparations, arrivals and the ceremony itself.
I first arrived at Jo's parents house to capture the family getting ready to leave. I was only there a short time but it was easy to see that everything was going to plan and the mood was really relaxed. One of my favourite images from here is of Jo peeking outside the front door, checking if the sun will be kind and stay out for the next hour or so.
A two minute drive and you are at the church. A truly local church! Tucked away in a residential street it is a fantastic church. Upon arriving I quickly met the vicar who requested that I not shoot in and around the service. Something that Jo and Cedric had also mentioned during our first meeting, which is absolutely fine. It's a private ceremony and a private moment that not everyone wants captured close up. This does however provide the opportunity to stand back and appreciate the scene in which the wedding is taking place, providing some of my other favourite images, below.
After some family and couple photos on the church steps it was time to depart when everyone went for a family meal. A great couple, in a fantastic church and a sunny day. A superb two hours. It flew by!
